Some nice concise resolutions. I need to get a proper list written out like this for myself as well.

Good luck man!

Well put. Sometimes I just feel like a sponge that soaks up all this information. I get overwhelmed with all the things I haven't learned instead of focusing on my strengths and my unique perspectives on design and life. I am looking forward to what you have to say in 2009. It's blogs like this that really offer something worthwhile and thought provoking that I will definitely keep at the top of hopefully shrinking subscription list in 2009. Keep it up! Oh and please do write about more cafes in the Seattle area. I am always looking for good places to go to get out of my cold, lonely basement.

Good post Matt, with my recently relaunched site - I'm also aiming to 'blog more' in '09 (although I doubt I can surf less as well, haha!)

Self-promotion is also one of my top goals for 2009, it was something that I needed to do in 2008 (but didn't, for various reasons). In fact, this week - my attention is very much geared towards how I can promote myself more. One of my biggest obstacles right now though is my current lack of a (Live) portfolio - so I'm sort of rebuilding my reputation at the moment.

I'm very intrigued to see which side-projects you get launched this year, and I hope you are successful with your aims for 2009. Best wishes, Matt.

Excellent post. I, too, share the desire to unsubscribe to more feeds. Something I find very difficult to do, just as you described: the feeling of somehow missing out on that latest tidbit or trick.

I'm noticing a trend in my Google Reader stats showing more reads of blogs like this one (e.g. a fellow web dev business professional talking business) rather than 'CSS-tips' blogs regurgitating the same tips found on Smashing Magazine.

Thanks for sharing your 2009 goals. They're inspirational.

I agree with you on the "Blog more, surf less" concept. I'm still trying to get over the idea of feed reading being like email-- meaning I don't need to read every one of my feeds! Like you, I find that if I communicate more, my design sensibilities improve as well. As that improves, I get more inspired, etc., etc.
