This blog has been a long time coming. A long time. In fact, this blog could be nearly a year old today. I’ve been fan of Chris Fahey’s graphpaper.com for a while and his open suggestion that everyone should have a blog made perfect sense to me—blogs are about communicating ideas and, as a designer, that’s your professional goal—to communicate clearly to others.
I read that post over a year ago, and until today, I’ve done nothing.
Something about writing an introduction explaining why I wanted to write, what I planned to write about, and who I wanted to reach always felt like such an impossible task. And of course, it was — I imagined boundaries, problems, and failures before I’d even started. I realize now that the important thing isn’t what my blog might become, but rather “[the] important thing is to begin.”
So here it goes.

Sorry, we're not taking on new projects.
In early 2011 we joined the design team at Facebook, where we now work full-time. To keep up with us, check out the Brown Blog or follow @brownthings and @ticjones!
